OSI Group received the Globe of Honor Award from the British Safety Council in the year 2016. The company won the prestigious award after it was considered to have the best environmental risk management strategies. The awards luncheon occasion in which they were presented with the award was held at Drapers’ Hall in London and was compered by British Safety Council.
In the event, 18 other organizations were presented with similar awards from the Council. These organizations just like OSI Group had demonstrated excellence in the management of environmental risks over the past one year. The main goal of these awards is to ensure that all companies remain conscious of their surrounding environment. All these companies received five stars during the council’s audit scheme on environmental management.
British Safety Council has been auditing numerous companies so as to establish their efforts towards environmental risk management. The audit committee decides on the winning companies once the audit is complete depending on stars awarded to each company. The companies that are considered to show excellence in management are given a maximum of a 5-star rating, and in the year 2016, all the 18 companies together with OSI Group had received a score of five. This led to these companies being nominated for the Globe of Honor Award.
Lynda Armstrong, the chair of British Safety Council, congratulated OSI Industries for their unmatched performance in her speech during the award event. She added that the company has always been concerned about environmental protection and other health and safety matters. Lynda said that she is happy because of the efforts different companies are putting across to manage the environment. Mike Robinson pointed out that even if the government legislates for environmental compliance, people need to be inspired towards the same goal and that is why they maintain the real stewardship. Kelly Grimwood is the environmental manager at OSI Group, and he is the one who received the award from Robinson during the award event. Robinson insisted that all companies need to embrace transformative governance so as to attain the environmental goals. The British Safety Council also acknowledged and applauded OSI’s leadership team for the efforts they are putting across towards improving environmental risk management.
